University of Twente

‘High tech, human touch’ implies that we are continuously on the look-out for unexpected combinations of research and education, always with a view to the needs of society. The University of Twente sets standards in the field of new technology and seeks to stimulate change, renewal and progress in society.

The organisation
The University of Twente is where talent can best realize its full potential. Students and staff are the key. Together, scientists and professionals carry out ground-breaking research, bring about socially relevant innovation, and provide inspiring teaching students. To us, entrepreneurship comes as second nature. Our unique campus in the Twente region currently welcomes 9,500 students, and employs over 3,000 scientists and professional support staff.

Entrepreneurial university
As a young and entrepreneurial university in the Netherlands, the University of Twente prepares young people for the future. It does so by offering cutting-edge, appealing and future-proof education. By being a global player in technology and social research. And by creating a thriving campus hot-spot, as an ecosystem for hundreds of spinoff companies.

Enschede Area
With over 158,000 inhabitants, Enschede is the largest city of the eastern Netherlands. Around 20,000 of these are students, either at Saxion Hogeschool Enschede (Saxion University of Professional Education, Enschede), the Academy of Music, the Academy of Art, or the University of Twente.

Enschede has a bit of everything; around the Van Heekplein you can find a large number of boutiques, clothing stores and other shops; at the Oude Markt square you will find lots of places to have a coffee or go out for dinner. Enschede is a relatively quiet, safe and pleasant city to live and work in. Modern shopping facilities attract people from both the Dutch and german local region.
